Our Founder and History

Ayaan Jeraj, PWVMUN Founder
From a young age, Ayaan Jeraj has had a passion for debate, public speaking, global affairs, and social justice activism. In grade six, he attended his first Model United Nations (MUN) conference and fell in love with the art of diplomacy and negotiation. This initial experience sparked a journey that saw him participate in numerous conferences across Canada and around the world, winning several awards along the way.
As a grade eight student entering Prince of Wales Secondary School, Ayaan quickly revitalized the Model UN Club. During his five years as Club President, he transformed the MUN Club into one of the strongest clubs at the school. When the pandemic struck and in-person conferences were canceled, Ayaan had a vision to organize his school’s first virtual MUN conference. In June 2020, he launched the inaugural Prince of Wales Vancouver Model United Nations (PWVMUN) Conference, marking the first virtual MUN conference in British Columbia.
Since its inception, the PWVMUN Conference has beenheld annually, attracting students from across the province and around the world. In 2023, the conference transitioned to its first in-person iteration, featuring over 100 participants from across Vancouver and a keynote address by B.C. Premier David Eby. Over the years, the conference has hosted several other prominent leaders, including Canadian Senators and Parliamentarians.
In 2024, Ayaan graduated with honors from Prince of Wales Secondary School. He continues to support PWVMUN as a Special Advisor and is committed to ensuring PWVMUN remains an avenue for proactive youth engagement in global issues. Ayaan is currently pursuing a dual degree in International Studies and Business at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
